Shrink wrappers - L Sealers - Heat Tunnels

Sealed Air's Shanklin shrink wrap machines offer the broadest line of solutions, designed to maximize packaging flexibility, versatility and efficiency.

Doverco is one of Canada’s leading stocking suppliers of shrink wrapping machinery. From re-packing products at the retail level to global pharmaceutical production lines, we have the solution that will suit your operational efficiency requirements and your budget.

The biggest development in shrink wrapping technology is the side seal mechanism that helps reduce film width waste and speeds up production. Rather than have an arm with a heated knife come down to form the bag around the product, rotary wheel side sealing shrink wrapping equipment forms a continuous seal on the longitudinal direction. A simple arm seals the latitudinal direction, either on a high-speed continuous box motion or on an intermittent motion. The choice is dependent on the required speed. Both types are, of course, fully automatic and can be placed in a production line without operator intervention. Automatic shrink-wrapping machines using side seal technology can process more than 100 packages per minute.

Comipack of Italy produces a more economical choice in side seal shrink wrapping machines. Call us for more details to learn more about either of these great choices. In all cases, side sealing shrink-wrapping machines are the ideal choice for long packages, ranging from mouldings, textile rolls, and others as the seal can be infinite and is only constrained by the tunnel length and type.

The more traditional automatic shrink-wrapping machine is the automatic L-Bar type sealer. These machines, a bit more economical, are generally used in applications of up to 30 units per minute. The complete line of Preferred automatic L-Bar shrink wrappers is sturdy, easy to operate and produce a great package. We even have combined sealers and tunnels on one unitised frame, providing the maximum flexibility in space savings and mobility.

For simple wrapping tasks, semi-automatic shrink wrapping machinery is the answer. We have customers packaging items as diverse as picture frames and fresh picked vegetables. Semi-automatic shrink wrapping equipment can be sized according to your requirements. Once installed, shrink-wrap machinery should do the job with a minimum of fuss. However, the choice of sealers, tunnels and film requires a technical expertise that Doverco can offer. And, of course, there is maintenance required. Our factory trained technicians armed with years of experience, on-hand parts inventory and the backing of the finest manufacturers around the globe are the antidote to your production challenges.

How to select your Shrink Wrap Machine

Shrink wrapping is essentially a two step process. The product to be wrapped is first sealed in a bag of either polyethylene, polyolefin or PVC film, it is then put through a heat tunnel in order to shrink the bag tight around the product. Some machines have the sealer and heat tunnel fully integrated. Semi and fully automatic versions are available to meet the requirements of any type of production line. Dimensions of the largest product to be packaged along with the type of shrink-film to be used and the required production speeds are important factors to consider when choosing shrink wrap systems.

Automatic L-Sealers

The Shanklin A-Series of compact, rugged, and versatile Automatic L-Sealers offers gentle product feed and straight line product flow that make them ideally suited for handling a wide variety of products. A-Series machines feature conveyor-fed automatic operation and are capable of processing up to 35 packages per minute, plus the L-Seal design provides great flexibility and quick product change. Each will accept randomly spaced product, fed either automatically or by hand.

Hy-Speed Automatic Wrapper

The Shanklin Hy-Speed Series of automatic wrappers are top-ofthe-line machines that give you the speed and flexibility you need to meet ever-increasing and ever-changing production demands.

What is your projected output?

Output levels are an important factor to consider in shrink wrap machine costs. Higher output levels will of course require more expensive machines. Over time, the higher output system will save you money if the production levels warrant the machine type. This guideline will recommend the type of shrink machine you should use to go along with your production levels.

Low Output—less than 100 products per day

hand impulse sealer and a heat gun are capable of wrapping 100 products or less per day. Using these two items products can be wrapped with, centerfold shrink wrap.

Low to Medium Output—less than 250 products per day

Most companies with lower output choose to invest slightly more money and purchase a Semi-Automatic L Bar Sealer. The L Bar Sealer will create a professional package on a small budget when output of less than 12–15 packages per minute is required. Semi-automatic L-Bar units require a minimum of maintenance and are simple to operate. The film rack allows for easy centerfold film dispensing. The recommended shrink wrap to be used is a centerfold shrink film.

Medium Output—250 to 750 Products per Day

Here we have several different machine options to consider. One of the most affordable shrink machine options is a shrink tunnel. Shrink tunnels available in a variety of sizes to couple with your choice of L-Bar Sealer. They are also sold as combo units i.e. Semi-Automatic L Sealers with Tunnel.

The L Bar sealer and shrink tunnel combo is a great choice for customers planning to exceed medium output levels. The advantage of the combo units over the table top units is the magnetic hold and discharge conveyor. The magnetic hold allows users to begin inserting products into film while the product before is being sealed. Once the seal is complete the discharge conveyor transports the products into the heat tunnel. These machines are capable of packaging in excess of 2000 products per day.

High Output—Over 750 products per day

The L Bar sealer and shrink tunnel combo unit mentioned above is an excellent option for high output operations up to approximately 2500-3000 products per day. Once production levels reach a higher point we recommend a fully automatic shrink wrap machine. Machines such as these can operate at speeds of up to 40 packages per minute.

What Size Product (s) Are Being Wrapped?

Sealed Air’s high performance shrink film Cryovac CT-300 Series

The other determining factor in choosing the right shrink wrapping machine is the size of the products being wrapped. Purchase a shrink wrap machine to accommodate the largest product being wrapped and it will allow you to wrap smaller products as well.

Be sure to account for the height, width, and length of the largest product. If you are purchasing both a sealer and shrink tunnel, be sure they both will accommodate the product.

Doverco supplies the most versatile and reliable shrink film on the market Croyvac® D-955 and CT-300 Series high performance shrink film. Croyvac® D-955 comes in a wide range of thickness to accommodate various applications. CT-300 series high performance shrink film has proven versatility across a broad range of shrink equipment. With longer rolls there is less changeover and improved efficiencies.
